The References Ability is the library of MacPractice. This ability will host all of the items that can be added into a patients chart. Every time that a user click a green plus in MacPractice, they will be accessing an item from the references ability. Changing an item in the references will update the item on all patient accounts.
Account Alerts: This is where the different alerts for patient accounts are created and stored.
Additional Office Visits: This Reference is used to specify procedure codes that count as a "visit" or "encounter" for the Measure Calculation reports, besides the default Evaluation and Management codes.
Additional Seen Codes: Additional Seen Codes were used to specify procedure codes that count as a "visit" for ONLY the now retired Patient Reminder Measure. This folder should no longer be used (as of 2015).
Adjustment Types: These are used for both positive and negative adjustments.
Allergies (Custom): This is a customizable database of allergies that can be associated to a patient.
Allergies (FDB): This is a database of allergies that can be associated to a patient. These records are codified with the ePrescribe ability and cannot be modified.
Attorneys: This Reference keeps track of all of the attorneys in MacPractice.
AutoRemind Notification Profiles: This Reference will describe what, when, where, and how AutoRemind notifications are sent.
Care Slip: This is where Care Slips are created and maintained.
CDA Lab Codes: These are the lab codes associated with the Canadian Dental Association.
Charting Material Colors: These are the colors utilized in the dental chart.
Chief Complaint: This Reference is a list of primary reasons a patient may visit the office.
City State Zips: Any City information can be written here.
Clinical Decision Rule: These are used to create Clinical Alerts based on patient medications, diagnoses, procedures, diagnostic tests, gender or age.
Common Clinical Notes: This References allows note templates to be entered for charting.
Communication Methods: This is where Communication Methods are created and stored.
Communication Types: This reference serves as a log of types of communication.
Custom: This Reference is a list of items that can be used in the Custom Tab in the Patient Ability.
Diagnosis (Custom): This Reference holds diagnosis codes that are not designated as Favorites.
Discharge Status: This Reference is where the list of reasons for each patient discharge is created and painted.
Eligibility Preventive Care Codes: This Reference outlines everything that is included with the Health Benefit Plan Coverage in Check Eligibility.
Emergency Contact Type: This Reference stores the types of emergency contacts that can be associated to a patient in their Emergency Tab in the Patient Ability.
Employers: This reference is designed to keep a record of all of the employers in your system.
Ethnicities: Race and Ethnicity information is stored here.
Export Presets: This Reference is used when exporting a drawer list out of MacPractice (to a spreadsheet, or other kind of document).
Facility: The physical location where services are rendered to a patient, such as an office, hospital or clinic.
Favorites ICD-10 Diagnoses: This reference is a list of every ICD10 code that has been designated a Favorite.
Favorites ICD-9 Diagnoses: This reference is a list of every ICD9 code that has been designated a Favorite.
Fee Schedules: Fee Schedules are created and maintained here.
Financial Status: Financial Statuses are used to help track patient accounts. They are created and maintained here.
Forms: Forms can be activated and edited here.
Immunization: This list contains all of the information pertaining to Immunizations.
Incident Name: The Incident Name Reference keeps a record of all the names used for Incidents.
Incident Type: The Incident Type Reference keeps a record of all the Types used for Incidents.
Info Button Resources: This Reference is a list of sites that support the industry wide InfoButton Standard
Insurance Companies: All of the details of every insurance company can be found in this Reference.
Lab Panels (Common): This is a database of LOINC codes.
Laboratories: This is a list of Laboratories that can be associated to charges.
Languages: The Languages Reference contains the available languages that are available to be set as "Preferred Language" in the Patient Tab.
Ledger Colors: The colors reflected in the Ledger can be maintained here.
Medication Route: The various routes of medication application can be maintained here.
Medications (Custom): The Medication (Custom) Reference is used to manually add a medication or edit an existing medication added through the Medications Manager.
Medications (FDB): The Medications (FDB) Reference is used with the ePrescribe ability and is not modifiable.
Menu Commands: The Menu Commands Reference is used to edit or create keyboard shortcut equivalents for items found in the Menu Bar.
Offices: This Reference contains information about the office that can be associated through different Abilities in MacPractice.
Order Type: Order Types are created and maintained in this Reference.
Patient Alerts: All of the alerts that can be assigned to a patient’s account are located here.
Patient Education Resources: The options to assign Education options to a patient are maintained here.
Patient Portal User: The individual users that have access to the Portal are stored here.
Payment Type: The Types of payments for Ledger transactions are stored in this Reference.
Pharmacy: This is a log of the Pharmacies that interact with the office.
Place Of Service: This Reference is a record of the designation for places where any given charge in MacPractice can be attributed.
Postcard Comment: This is a place to keep a set of comments that can be applied to postcards in MacPractice.
Preventive Routine Cares: This Reference is a record of routine preventive procedures for a patient.
Procedure Category: This Reference is a collection of the various Procedure Categories in the database that can be assigned to charges.
Procedure Types: This Reference is a collection of the various Types in the database that can be assigned to charges.
Races: This Reference is a log of available Races that can be assigned to a patient. This list can not be added to or modified.
Follow-Ups/Recalls: Recall types and frequencies are maintained here.
Referral Reasons: This Reference is a log of reasons that can be added to a referral in the Patient Tab explaining why a patient was referred to or from another provider.
Referral Specialty: The Specialties that are assigned to Referrals are kept in this Reference.
Referral Types: The Types that are assigned to Referrals are kept in this Reference.
Referrers: This Reference is all of the Referrers are stored.
Smoking Status: This is a log of all of the various statuses of smoking that can be entered in the Clinical Tab.
Statement Message: This Reference is where templates for various Statement Messages set in the Account Tab are stored.
Supercode: This Reference is where Supercodes are stored.
Tax Rate: This is a log of all available Tax Rates.
Tax Type: This is a log of all available Tax Types.
Tooth Number: Different Tooth Number options are created and stored here.
User Alert Response Type: If an Alert in a patient’s account requires a specific response, it can be created here as well as stored.
User Group Privileges: These are the Privileges associated with the various groups that can be assigned to Users.
Users: Every person with access to MacPractice has their information stored here.
