Clinical Quality Measures Report - Prostate Cancer: Avoidance of Overuse of Bone Scan for Staging Low Risk Prostate Cancer Patients

Overview
Percentage of patients, regardless of age, with a diagnosis of prostate cancer at low risk of recurrence receiving interstitial prostate brachytherapy, OR external beam radiotherapy to the prostate, OR radical prostatectomy, OR cryotherapy who did not have a bone scan performed at any time since the diagnosis of prostate cancer

A patient will be in the denominator and numerator when they have all of the following- 

  • A gender of Male
  • A Prostate Cancer Treatment visit during your reporting period
  • A diagnosis of Prostate Cancer with an Onset Date matching the Procedure Date of their visit
  • A Prostate Specific Antigen Test LNC code entered or imported as a Laboratory Order with a Value <=10 ng/mL and a Received Date before their visit
  • A Gleason Score LNC code entered or imported as a Laboratory Order with a Value <=6 and a Received Date before their visit
  • A Cancer Staging Procedure snomed code entered in their EMR or EHR form, with Start Date and End Date after the Received Date of their above tests and before their Cancer Treatment visit. This will need a Prostate Cancer Primary Tumor Size T1a, T1b, T1c, or T2a snomed code entered in to the CQM Value box

A patient will be removed from the numerator when they have all of the following- 

  • A Bone Scan LNC code entered or imported as a Laboratory Order with a Received Date after the Onset Date of the Prostate Cancer diagnosis
