EMR & EDR Section Editor 10 - Creating a Narrative

Now that we have set all of the details for the Form View of the Section, lets switch to the Narrative. Use the EMR menu or the keyboard shortcut, Command backslash. The form will flip around to display the Narrative. Notice that the Element Titles will be displayed in braces and the Title of the Section will be displayed at the top of the Narrative.

You can adjust or remove the Section title at the top of the Narrative. Use the Text Menu or the keyboard shortcut, Command T to open up the font details.

When moving fields, it is extremely important to move the braces and everything inside of the braces. It is easiest to use the Cut with the keyboard shortcut, command X. Navigate to the new position and paste with Command V.

You might remove the label Elements completely as they might be different on the Narrative of the form. Add any additional text to the Narrative. The Narrative can also make use of Pull Fields. Pull Fields are extremely powerful within the EMR Narrative as they can pull patient specific information into the Narrative. Use the palette to locate the desired PulL Fields. Simply drag the Pull Field into the Narrative. Be sure to add all spacing and punctuation as needed.

Once complete, save the Narrative with the Edit menu or the keyboard shortcut, Command S. Test out the form to confirm that the Section works on both the Form and the Narrative. Use the EMR menu or the keyboard shortcut, Command backslash, to toggle to the Narrative view of the form.
